The Event
If you are suffering from post-Eurovision depression after the Grand Final, don’t worry! We have the perfect way to bring joy to the ESC-free period of the year: the first international Eurovision Song Contest Convention – UNESCON – takes place from 28 – 30 June 2019 in Hannover, Germany.
You can expect a real three-day festival for the Eurovision community – a weekend full of shows, sightseeing tours and meet-and-greet sessions with well-known ESC artists. And naturally the chance to meet your Eurovision friends from all over the world.
The highlight of UNESCON will be the Saturday evening Eurovision Gala Concert, featuring a live orchestra, and Eurovision Disco. On Sunday you can be part of the Schützenausmarsch, a unique traditional parade organised as part of the world’s biggest festival for marksmen. The draws to a close on Sunday with the Final Concert – where UNESCO world cultural heritage meets Eurovision.
The host city of Hannover is not just a UNESCO City of Music (the gramophone record, the music cassette and the CD were all invented here); thanks to Lena Meyer-Landrut, it is also a true Eurovision City. And “Dr. Eurovision” Irving Wolther, the leading German expert on the Eurovision Song Contest and the founder of UNESCON, is also based here in the capital city of Lower Saxony.
Hannover is an attractive travel destination in its own right. It is not without reason that UNESCON coincides with the start of the Schützenfest Marksmen’s Fair. Featuring culinary, musical and historical tours and excursions, our partner Hannover Tourismus will make this weekend a unique experience for all fans.
